K12 Virtual academie

K12 Independence provides everything you need to give your children the education they deserve, including:

Quality Curriculum and Materials
K12 provides lessons, progress and planning tools, assessments, and learning aids over the Internet, and complements this information with supplemental learning materials, such as books, workbooks, CDs, and videos.

Parental Involvement
Parents or other caring adults are directly involved in their children's education. Parents will spend about three hours over the course of a five-hour day working with their children; during the remaining time children will read or engage in other study activities.

Appropriate Use of Technology
Generally, children in grades K-5 do about 20-30 percent of the work online. The rest of their time is spent reading books, solving math problems on paper, drawing, and conducting science experiments. As children get older and their reading skills improve, instruction and activities will involve increased computer use, according to educational standards.

Elementary and Middle School Courses
K12 has programs for students from kindergarten through grade nine, so you can educate multiple students with K12. (Higher grades will be available in the coming years.) With our complete program, you can choose the appropriate grade level for each child in each subject.

Adaptable Tools
The K12 curriculum can be tailored for children with special needs. We provide tools that allow students to work at their own pace, so K12 works for children who need extra time to master a subject, and for those who learn quickly.

Schools Interoperability Framework Association

Quality education relies, in large part, on professional educators and parents having access to the information, resources, and tools to serve learners of all ages. Seamless integration of a broad spectrum of instructional, administrative and communications tools is essential to effectively address the needs of all learners.

The Schools Interoperability Framework Association’s (SIFA) vision within this context is that schools will be enabled to better utilize technology in a manner that leverages the promise and capabilities of interoperability between disparate applications. SIFA brings together the developers and vendors of school technology with the federal, state and local educators who use that technology. To define the rules for data movement between applications—efficiently, accurately and automatically—in the SIF Specification.

Developed by SIFA’s members, the SIF specification ensures that data systems work together and free up educators to do what they do best: teach.
